Lawrence Gerard (Larry) Nassar: medical regulator decision
Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, Disciplinary Subcommittee, within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)
What the panel found
The final order records that he did not file a written response to the administrative complaint within 30 days, which under Michigan law is treated as an admission of the allegations, and the subcommittee imposed sanctions without a hearing. LARA said the basis was his criminal convictions in federal court and in the Ingham County and Eaton County circuit courts.1,2
Related criminal case
According to LARA and the final order: convicted on 7 December 2017 in the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan of receipt and attempted receipt of child pornography, possession of child pornography, and destruction and concealment of records and tangible objects, convicted on 23 January 2018 in Ingham County Circuit Court of seven counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct, with a minimum term of 40 years, and convicted on 5 February 2018 in Eaton County Circuit Court of three counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct. The Associated Press reported he was sentenced to decades in prison.2,1,4
Response
He did not respond to the administrative complaint, according to the final order. An Attorney General spokeswoman told the Associated Press the fine would probably not be paid but that the board wanted to send a message.1,4
Appeal and later events
No appeal of the licensing order is recorded in the sources read.1
Status now
Licence permanently revoked and permanently ineligible for reinstatement, under the order of 5 April 2018.1,2
