Conrad Murray: medical regulator decision
Texas Medical Board, Medical Board of California, Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners
What the panel found
The fetched sources do not set out the Texas board's findings. In his lawsuit he argued that the board's only ground was his California conviction, which he said was not final while his appeal was pending. The Medical Board of California said in March 2012 that court orders had already barred him from practising and that it was preparing an accusation to revoke his licence.3,5,4
Related criminal case
Found guilty by a Los Angeles jury of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson on 7 November 2011 and sentenced on 29 November 2011 to four years, the maximum, according to CNN. He was released on 28 October 2013. An appellate court upheld the conviction on 15 January 2014, according to CNN.1,4
Response
He sued the Texas Medical Board, arguing that the revocation was premature because his California conviction was not final until his appeals were exhausted, as reported by the Associated Press. In court papers he said the board's action put him "in imminent harm of irreparable injury". In a 2013 interview with CNN he said "my intentions were good."3,5,2
Appeal and later events
He requested a hearing on the Texas revocation on 19 September 2013 and the request was denied on 22 October 2013, according to CNN. The outcome of his lawsuit against the Texas Medical Board is not recorded in the sources read. The criminal conviction was upheld on appeal on 15 January 2014, according to CNN.2,3,1
Status now
As of October 2013 his Texas licence was revoked and his California licence was suspended, according to CNN and the Associated Press. CNN reported that the California status depended on the outcome of a negligence hearing. A later California outcome was not confirmed for this record.2,3
